Lanark is shortly going to decide whether to support a (BID) Business Improvement District throughout the town. Lord Cornet Gary Winning who is the BID Project Manager for Discover Lanark had a meeting with Claudia last week who pledged to support the BID.
Claudia has agreed to write to the local national businesses some of which currently oppose the BID, urging them to support the local town that in turn supports them.
Claudia commented:
“It was great to meet with local Lord Cornet Gary Winning last week to discuss the proposals to make Lanark a BID town. This needs all local businesses to support it and I strongly believe it would be a missed opportunity if the towns businesses did not vote for the BID.
“I completely support the proposal and I hope that all businesses in the town are able to see the benefits of the plans to the town over the long term.
“We urgently need to change how we treat out town centres to bring them back from the decline we have all felt over the recent years.
“I will be doing all I can to support the BID in Lanark and any other town in South Scotland that would like to make a BID for a brighter future.”
Gary Winning Commented:
“Lanark needs an all hands to the pump approach with businesses and community working together. The Discover Lanark Business plan is a blue print on how we can boost trade and tourism to the Town”
